I have taught General Math in Junior High, Algebra and Geometry in Junior High and High School, Introduction to Mathematics, and three different Algebra courses in Junior College. I have learned a lot of techniques in teaching. I am currently teaching twenty hours a week to adults in High School Science, some Electives, and in Mathematics.

I like starting with the given information and stepping through the processes to solve a problem. Reminding them of, or even showing them, the rules, properties, and examples in the book. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student. I will sometimes come up with a similar problem to work through so they can see what's really going on within the problem.
I have tutored Algebra through Calculus I and Elementary Statistics for the last three years. 1.5 years at both Wichita State University and Washburn University. I'm currently working on a second Bachelors degree in mathematics, but this time with an emphasis in Actuarial Science. This mixes calculus, algebra, and statistics, along with some business classes, into one, keeping them fresh in my mind.

I believe that a genuine interest makes the strongest foundation for education. Creativity and a sense of serious play clan create interest in "boring" subjects. A handful of wonderful marbles will draw the attention of children and adults with simple beauty and color. They can also be used to demonstrate important lessons in physics and probability. In fact, math and science exist primarily outside the confines of books. If the student can replace the textbook problem with inquisitiveness and interest, better learning will occur. Ultimately, the textbook problem will become transparent to the student, and he or she will be able to understand and excel.
