Teach students how to think, not what to think.

My teaching style is Socratic. Inquiry and discussion are my primary tools. I also teach history as an argument about the past for the students to develop rather than a set of facts and dates to be memorized. I try to teach without assigning homework.
I am currently enrolled at Northern Arizona University. I have completed three years of undergraduate study in history secondary education, have spent seventy hours working and assisting in classrooms, and earned a minor in Spanish. Spanish is one of my top subjects! I have spoken fluent Spanish since 1972 (while living in Chile for two years), and have honed my fluency since then by traveling throughout Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Peru. I have professionally taught Spanish for nearly eight months on a part-time basis.

Re Spanish, after a review of the fundamentals, I ask questions in Spanish, and my student responds, after which we discuss his response.
I love to speak Spanish, especially with native speakers, something I have enjoyed doing since traveling with my Westwood HS Spanish Club to Hermosillo and Chihuahua in 1968 and 1969. My Spanish fluency blossomed in 1971, as I began living in Chile for two years, working occasionally with the Chilean Dept of Visas.
