We did a variety of assignments including drawing, beading, needle work, various arts and crafts projects. This was a great experience for me and made me look forward to teaching more in the future. I have done commissioned work doing murals for a vineyard on their property for advertisement purposes. I also have a degree in Fine Arts with specialties in drawing and painting.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to start tutoring students by determining what the student's strengths and weaknesses are and building a strategy from there. When a student doesn't understand a new concept, I like to go through every step of the process with them to figure out where the stumbling block is, using a variety of ways to explain the concept to assess which strategy works best for each student. Ultimately my goal is to see each student "get it" and overcome obstacles in learning math, so the student can independently understand new concepts enough to use them without much coaching.
I have 2 years experience in tutoring high-school and college-level math and computer science (programming and database design) while studying computer science in college from 1996-1998. During that time I also taught small classes in computer usage (email and internet) at the Kennewick Senior Center. I later earned a ... read more

More About This Tutor...

From 2000-2004 I taught manual and computerized accounting at Kaplan voacational schools in South Texas.Apart form teaching students during the week, I would also hold tutoring sessions on Saturdays for any student who was having difficulty keeping up or had been ill. During the last few years I have taken continuing education courses in accounting online in order to keep up with the latest changes. One of the courses was the Becker CPA Review which involves accounting problem solving at the college level.
Since most accounting books involve a step-by-step approach, I would have to evaluate the student to see what appears to be the problem area in order to get a good solid foundation before continuing into the more difficult areas of accounting. A good mix of theory and problem solving is required for each student on an individual basis. Even though my students were in a vocationa ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am warm, patient and accessible. I am capable of presenting concepts in diverse forms. All doubts and questions are answered using daily, commonplace examples that help the student comprehend a biological concept and not just memorize it for a test. During and at the end of each session, I use indirect and direct questioning to check the level of comprehension acquired and build on it. I check other skills such as reading and writing which may be interfering with the student's performance. I love teaching biology and I wish everybody would at least see how relevant it could be in life. Having clear concepts permits us all to make informed decisions regarding ourselves, our family and the environment.
I have a PhD in Biology. I have lived and studied in several countries where I was able to learn from, admire and adapt to the diverse people I have encountered. I read, write and s ... read more
