I follow the "EDGE" method for teaching: Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. I will explain the material, demonstrate it with an example, guide the student through working through a problem, and then enable the student to work independently while still being available for questions. I also try to connect what the student is learning to real-life applications, especially ones that resonate with the student's interests. I find that learning is most effective when the students can connect it to what they personally find meaningful.

Teach through examples. I like to give examples by taking the student step by step to the solution. I then have the student work on his or her own to solve the problem providing additional support without giving the answer. If the correct solution cannot be found by the student, I will provide additional examples to help the student learn the concepts.

Engineering is one of my top subjects!

As a graudate student I was a held a postion as a Graudate Research Assistant for the Geotechnical Lab. As such I taught undergraduate students the theory behind laboratory test, what each test provides the engineer and how to conduct the test. Furthermore I assisted undergraduate students with homework problems and helped them prepare for tests.
I am very hands on. I like to first show how a problem is done, discuss the purpose of each step and then the student work the problem. From there I prefer to have students work problems and ask questions as they come up. After each problem is complete I then review the problem with the student.
