When I begin tutoring a student, I perform an evaluation in order to determine the areas they need help. I adjust my teaching style in order to suit the student's learning style. The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Tutoring and diagnostic testing is available after school, evenings (Monday – Friday) and Saturday mornings. The clinic is available year-round. Our testing clinician and school psychologist offer a Psychoeducational Evaluation to all new students. The testing is scheduled for two three hour sessions on separate days during after school hours. The evaluation consist of various test measuring a student’s cognitive abilities, processing skills, IQ, and academic levels. The evaluation will determine a student’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as how they think, reason and process information. A conference will be held with the family and/or the student. I like to give students the tools that will allow them to succeed in their language study. I have over 8 years experience teaching Spanish to all levels. I also have experience as a Reader for the A.P. Spanish Literature Exam and as a grader for the Spanish Praxis Exam for teacher certification. I started my teaching career as a Teach For America corps member in Atlanta, Georgia, where I taught sixth grade language arts at Crawford Long Middle School. Most recently, I had the honor of teaching at KIPP: LEAD College Prep Charter School in Gary, Indiana. I previously held Language Arts Certificates (6-12) in both Georgia and Indiana.
