Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I hold a Master's degree in special education and am experienced as a K-5 special education teacher in all areas of language arts. I work with students with other health impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. I am certified by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators as an Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator. Orton-Gillingham is a multisensory literacy approach that includes explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, reading, spelling, and writing.

I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed.
