I am currently an ASL instructor at a deaf school, I teach the community and I am looking to help others improve their sign language and also gain experience for myself. I truly enjoy teaching and helping others who are motivated to learn. I use American Sign Language as my primary source for communication, I grew up at a deaf school and come from a deaf family, I am also hard of hearing with a 6th generation of hearing loss in my family. I have done a lot of teaching and tutoring, both with adults and young people. Most of my experience, though, comes from working with high school and junior high school students. I spent the majority of that time as a tutor/ mentor and would work with the students one on one or in small groups, both in the library or in the classroom. It was really the most wonderful experience and I was able to provide tremendous benefits to the students on both an academic and personal level. I really do place something of a premium on being able to connect with all of my students on an academic and personal level. I believe that this helps them as they know that their teacher and tutor cares about them and their future and, as such, this causes them to grow and excel.
