My comments on tutoring Flute : I played the flute in high school in both the marching band and jazz band. Also, the flute was my minor instrument in college while receiving my music education degree.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. Lastly, I currently tutor students of various ages in math, reading, science, social studies, and writing.

I believe that every student learns in their own unique way and at their own pace. I try to cater to that thought when teaching and encourage each student to become his or her own teacher. I think it is important to have a strong fundamental base, but music is more than notes and fingerings. The study of music can give one the power to look at life’s problems through a different lens and give a fresh perspective. Now that I am out of school I see more clearly that there is never an ending point to education. All of those years of studying are not just to pass a test or earn a degree. Education is essential for the mind to grow.

On the whole, I look for a rather creative approach when it comes to learning and studying. I ask that students be skeptical in all they hear and read, so asking questions as a form of studying will be essential. Just reading a book or looking at flash cards for studying purposes can prove to be tedious and ineffective. And putting what's learned in context is always necessary if the subject calls for any everyday application.
I have helped people with their English-speaking skills off and on and am very skilled in spelling and grammar. I've been learning Japanese for going on three years, as well. I'm aware that it's not a particularly high in-demand language to learn, but I am more than willing to aid in learning it if it is desired. Also, having graduated high school, I have enough knowledge to teach kids about the basics of science, math, and English.
