Since Chemistry is both qualitative and quantitative, I encourage students to actively participate in the classroom. When I explain a problem involving calculations, I want my students to actively participate in the solution of it and not be just passive receptors. The same goes for writing formulas and names for compounds. The key to succeed in Chemistry is active participation and practice problems, and I always emphasize that to my students. Whenever possible, I use visual aids or videos downloaded from the Internet to present certain topics that involve abstract concepts. I make clear to my students that in Chemistry what is important is to develop problem-solving skills and not to memorize concepts or data.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Chemistry granted in September 2004. I also have 33 credits approved in course works in Secondary Education (18 at the undergraduate le ... read more

I enjoy teaching as well as learning from others. I know that each person is unique and has the ability to excel. Some simply might need to be shown how to approach learning in a different angle. That's what I offer different ways of learning the same material, regardless of the topic or subject. I want to show and teach the student how they can approach the material in a way so that it makes sense to them. My goal is to push, challenge, and encourage my students to ask questions and learn.

In college I decided to major in Biology and minor in Psychology. This was ideal because the exposure to both of these disciplines would be critical to becoming a well-rounded individual. To further demonstrate my academic ability, this year I gained admissions to Georgetown University School of Medicine. As a medical student and a future physician I know that my leadership, academic, and interpersonal skills are key assets in educating children. Last year, I was a permanent substitute teacher at Miami Ferguson High School where I was able to interact with students of all grades. I substituted many different subjects, such as Math and English where I had to adapt to the many roles of a teacher. In January of 2007, they gave me the chance to work with the children affected with autism. This opportunity allowed me to learn about the mental challenges that these children go through on ... read more

I believe one of the most effective ways to communicate information is finding a way to relate it to something the student is already passionate about. Finding and creating that bridge provides the student necessary confidence for success and is also a very rewarding experience. Any student is capable of learning material given the correct environment, and it makes me ecstatic to facilitate the experience and see a goal successfully achieved.

I enjoy tutoring students and I gain satisfaction out of seeing my students understand the material. I believe my teaching style is unique to most tutors. Through some of the struggles I had in college I was able to develop a teaching style that has proven to help students progress in Organic Chemistry. I use molecular models and examples to demonstrate the material. I divide my lecture in well explained concepts and follow each concept with an example and then challenge my students to solve problems with me in order for me to know they have understood what I have taught them.
As a recent graduate from Florida International University's allied health program, I have the desire to tutor students in Organic Chemistry. I have earned a B.S. in Health Science and a minor in Biology. Furthermore, during my senior year in college, fellow peers requested help in Organic Chemistry and I rea ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that the key to working with children is making the learning experience both educational and entertaining. My teaching style is first assessing the student’s weakness and strengths and then developing a learning plan that strengthens their weakness. I have a fun, and creative style of teaching children that keeps them engaged and excited about learning. I am also very patience and belief that repetition in one of the best ways of making sure the child learns thoroughly what is being taught to them. I think that once a student understand that a problem is not as hard as they think it is learning the material becomes easy
