My teaching style is a very flexible style. I understand that everyone has a different method for learning and I have to adapt in order for the student to learn. Since I've mostly dealt with music for teaching experience, I'll refer to that area of expertise to illustrate my methods. I usually start off with ear training exercises because as a musician this is a must have skill. Then we go over basic aspects of music such as rhythm or basic chords. Eventually, after enough has been learned, I make the class more challenging and try to get the student to think in many different ways and allow them to be flexible with their minds as well. I am a musician and teacher at heart and within the past two years I have found a way to combine those two passions into the most rewarding job I've ever had. I have always had a fascination with the past; as a child I read book after book on dinosaurs and as an adult I studied and received a BA in History with a minor in Political Science. Through my years of schooling I have developed not only my writing skills but my skills in foreign language. After studying German in high school and living abroad in Germany for a month, I studied German in college and now read German stories alongside my history books in my spare time.
