I graduated from Purdue University in May of 2007 with a BS degree in Applied Physics. The Applied portion means I took an additional 10 courses on top of the normal physics load. This has given me an in-site on math, physics, chemistry, computer programming, astronomy, and a bit about electronics. I know how to be thorough in my work with a high attention to detail. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session. While I have no "official" teaching experience, I was frequently required to teach other members of the various teams I was on as well as people from other groups. This involved everything from tutorial presentations to a large and diverse group down to individual tutoring at the table in my office. Most people told me I was pretty good at it. I first try to determine what level of knowledge my "students" had. Then, building on that, I would add layers until the group I was with understood the material. I would check with them frequently to make sure they understood what we just covered and I allowed questions at any time. If necessary, I would back up and try a different approach.
