A child's imagination is my lesson plan

I start with a couple simple video games that teach the basics, and then we follow our imaginations from there. The best project ideas come from a kid's mind and it can take us in any direction. I don't follow a set lesson plan, but have plenty of projects up my sleeve if they're needed.
I've been fascinated with computer programming since I was 8 and found a book about Fortran in my grandma's encyclopedia set. Our school had a handful of computers but no programmers. There was a single book in the library that I had checked out constantly until the librarian finally just let me have it when I graduated 8th grade. My comments on tutoring Graphic Design : I have done graphic design in the context of website development as well as created informational material such as flyers. I have experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. The areas that I can assist students with include vector graphics, photo processing, and editing PDFs.

I try to work with students to find connections between different aspects of the material that we're working on as well as to find connections to other subjects. I find that by relating specific topics to broader perspectives on a subject as well as related subjects, the student can gain a greater appreciation for the coherence and importance of a particular subject area.
I have experience working with students who are advanced and seeking supplementary tutoring as well as with students who are having difficulty with a subject. I have tutored mathematics as well as chemistry, biology, physics, and other subjects. In Nassau, Bahamas, after graduating from high school in 2006, my grandmother encouraged me to take an Adobe Photoshop class that was being held at a nearby Technical School. I had know clue of how powerful a tool Photoshop was, but I thought I'd give attending that class a try because my grandmother told me that graphic design was the industry of the future. I majored in graphic design and can assist with all stages of the design process; from conceptualizing a design, to the finished product. My comments on tutoring Graphic Design : I have my degree in Graphic Design, interned as a graphic designer for six months, and have done small projects for private customers. I am efficient in the Adobe programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Digital photography is also one of my hobbies. I am comfortable teaching the art and technique of digital photography.

During the school year, I work as a curriculum coordinator and art teacher for an after school program in Lexington, Ma. This is my 6th year of teaching stimulating and unique art projects to children in grades K-5. I have interned as a graphic designer and also had jobs as a wedding photographer. During the summer, I work as an assistant director to a summer enrichment program in Winchester, Ma. Outside of work- I am a member at large of the Boston Guild of Puppeteers, and also work on my own art which includes building my portfolio of paintings to show and sell, as well as complete small digital photography jobs.
I go as fast or as slow as the student needs. I encourage students to try new techniques and ideas so they are self-aware of the process and learning experience that leads to self-improvement and development.
