My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I have ADD/ADHD myself so I am very in tune with issues regarding learning and organization.

I like to work with flash cards, books, but also a lot of oral training. I am able to provide materials depending on the learning style you are most comfortable with (e.g. oral, written, visual, audio).
I have been tutoring and teaching kids at varying degrees in English during my time in School. I have also tutored privately in German, adults and kids alike. I am currently looking for people who want to either advance their conversation skills, work on their pronounciation, or if they take German in school, I can prepare them for tests, based on the materials they work with.

As a Certified Dyslexia teacher, I teach Orton-Gillingham multisensory curriculum to students with dyslexia and other reading deficits. My teaching style initally involves getting to the know the person, what they are struggling with, why they think they may need a tutor, and anything they have tried in the past and what has and has not worked for them. I like to encorporate all aspects to assist with learning (visual aids, listening, and hands-on/practical). This may involve games, cartoons/movies (if tutoring Spanish), worksheeets. I also feel that goal-setting is important, and I think I would ask the tutee to set some individual/personal goals for themself, (i.e. amount of time studying or achieving certain fluency level).

Since I have graduated from UMES, I have been teaching on the high school level. I teach special education students as well as general education students in the inclusion setting, math. I can best describe my teaching style as flexible. I start with traditional paper-pencil methods. If further clarification is needed I use surrounding objects or tools such as Smart board, manipulatives, different colored pencils, paper-folding or anything else necessary to try. I couple the above with questioning tactics to uncover where the missing link is for the student.
