My comments on tutoring Cornet : Cornet and trumpet are very similar, but I do know the subtle differences in them and can teach both

I have been doing something in music for 30 years. I have a B.A in music from Wright State University which I obtained in 2003. I also have 6 years of private music instruction on various instruments. I have played in several different groups consisting of a wide range of music. I have classical training but I also know how to teach rock, pop, jazz and metal on certain instruments

Dr. Evan Duke (D.M.A., M. Mus., and B. Mus.) has performed on trumpet, cornet, and French Horn. His past teachers include Jim Ruffaner, Bob Birch, Dan Kirsop, and Mark Clodfelter. Perfect practice makes perfect.

I started playing music when i was ten years old, and have continued my knowledge and talent ever since. I can currently play twelve instruments at at-least a basic level, four of those twelve at an experienced level, and two at a highly advanced level. In high school i made All-Region twice, and All-State once, placing Second Band, Third Chair, and ninth best in the state on tuba after just a year and a half of playing the instrument. I continued on to college at the University of Central Arkansas, where I was lucky to get to study with Christian Carichner as a tuba student. However, before the end of my first year i dropped out of college to begin my family, in hopes of returning to college for my music education in the near future.

I believe in teaching the right way to do something the first time. Bad playing habits are much easier to avoid than to correct. I prefer for the student to have a short (20 to 30 minute) daily practice session that is highly concentrated, than to practice for two hours twice a week. I also like to keep a very relaxed atmosphere... because you simply play better when you are relaxed. I can teach someone to play higher or faster, but my main goal is to make sure that someone has a firm grasp of the basics, such as posture, breath support, embouchure, articulation, and tone quality.
