More About This Tutor...

I am a licensed CPA in the state of PA. I have been tutoring accounting for approximately 6 years now and have tutored a diverse group of individuals from undergraduate business majors to MBA students. I believe heavily in face-to-face teaching and always try my hardest to ensure that my students understand the material so that they are able to take it back with them to the class rooms and succeed on exams.
My teaching style is a very interactive one. I often work directly with my students and walk them through problems as they do them. I find this to be the most effective way of tutoring as I am able to identify weaknesses and help turn them into strengths.

Graphic Design graduate. Need help? I'm your guy.

I'm not better than you; we're equals. I'm just a tutor helping you understand a problem. I don't condescend, or insult, or expect a perfect outcome the first time. If my teachers hadn't shown me patience and understanding when I had trouble, I would have been too discouraged to want to continue. I want to relate the information to something the student can understand, and I am certainly patient when they continue to have trouble; which they will. Design is not rocket science, but it is not easy, either. I want to make learning fun and easy. That's when I did my best in school; when teachers made the work more enjoyable, rather than a chore. I want to have fun while teaching students and leave them with a positive outlook on their educational experience.
Between my time at Burlington County College and Rutgers, I have been studying graphic design for seven years. I have always been ... read more

Let's make it happen!

Very casual! I've signed up as a tutor just so I can meet some new people and because I genuinely like to help others. I also find working with another designer, even someone just starting out, very inspiring. I definitely want to establish a peer-to-peer dynamic rather than a teacher-student one.
I'm a recent graduate so I'm very fresh and up to date on technical skills as well as trending design. I've mentored many of my peers at school as I like to help my friends and they seek me out because of my reputation as a good designer. I still get called back to help even though I've since graduated. The best help I can offer is art direction as far as finishing pieces and preparing a body of work for your portfolio. My technical expertise is in Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, in that order. I'm also able to help with web design, CSS3 and HTML5.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring Japanese at the beginning and intermediate level for nearly 5 months now and thoroughly enjoy it. In the past, I designed a 5-week introductory course to the Japanese language for a summer college prep program and instructed high school students in 2010. I have been a student of the Japanese language for a combined 5 years and, though I have officially passed the JLPT Level N1 exam, I know there is still much I can learn. I hope to some day undertake graduate level studies at a Japanese university.
My policy is to always find out what my tutees' needs are, so I often will ask questions to determine what s/he wants to get out of our lessons together and how I can best provide it. One thing that I bring to the table that native Japanese speakers may not is experience in struggling with the language. So I know, for instance, some of the grammar patterns Japanes ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I did a three-month internship the summer after my junior year of high school with CenterPage Inc., a graphic design company that sparked my interest in graphic design. I then started taking classes with a local graphic designer, of which I continued to take until I graduated high school. The summer after my freshman year of college, I helped to develop/start a Graphic Design Program at my high school. I helped teach the first set of classes and was the person of contact for the Guidance Department for any student that wanted to pursue graphic design. Since the program fully launched, I have hosted multiple portfolio reviews for high school juniors and seniors pursing visual communication fields, speak annually at my school's career day, and do a presentation about graphic design to all art classes every spring. The spring and summer terms of my sophomore year, I studied architec ... read more
