This is your time and your money so you shape the lessons, but I do have a few things that I insist on. - Grammar is very important and needs to be the cornerstone of all lessons, I will try to make grammar as painless as possible, but it is very necessary and frankly, I love it. - I will try to do the lesson in German as much as possible, you may struggle a bit, but don't worry, It will help you grow much faster - Homework is optional, but we can't move very fast if you don't practice outside of lessons

I started teaching in 1988 as a college student. I played in the US Army Band. Upon graduation, I taught band and orchestra in Wichita KS public schools. I have been on the faculty of Friends University in Wichita, KS and Bethel College in Newton, KS. I taught private piano and bass students at Jim Starkey Music Center in Wichita, also. Many of my bass students have been in the Wichita Youth Symphony.
I teach so called "classical" reading, and improvisation, once basics are under control.

I believe in tailoring each lesson to each student's individual abilities and learning methods.
