Experience Summary
I have taken Chinese ( Mandarin) for 12 years. I am fluent in reading, writing, and speaking. I have learned Mandarin via immersion for 7 years. Following immersion, I took Chinese culture and language daily for about 5 years. During the daily Chinese culture classes, I watched Chinese movies, read Chinese folk-tale, and sung cultural music. I have also learned the Chinese art style of calligraphy. I have traveled to Chinese Institutions such as the Confucius Institute at the University of Maryland and the Chinese-American Museum in. I have participated in dances and celebrations that embraced the Chinese culture. I have also worked with native Mandarin speakers to improve and further hone my conversational abilities.
