Experience Summary
Helped establish and develop the practice area of Early Intervention. Most of my clinial experience has been in the school setting - grades pre-k through seven. I've worked online as well, with students located at school or in their homes. Individual and group lessons offered in the areas of language (receptive, expressive, pragmatic/social), fluency, articulation. I particularly enjoy working with children who have what was once called Asperger's Syndrome, children who have receptive/expressive language issues which hinder their learning, children with fluency problems. Often, as I no longer practice speech pathology, my work augments that of colleagues who do.
Teaching Style
My work has been based on observation, close consultation with families, formalized testing, and experience. I enjoy both individual and group work. I am also very tuned in to families, as my own daughter has a severe/profound hearing loss from meningitis as a baby.
My Hobbies
Reading, writing, being with friends and family, playing the Celtic harp, drawing, painting, potting, weaving.
Other Comments
When I worked the school year online (with students on the Navajo Reservation) I used the Presence Learning Platform. When I worked with students in their homes, I used - and am comfortable with - Skype.
