Experience Summary
Lifelong passion for drawing, leading into a degree of formal education from middle school through high school. I'm a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and have received drawing and design instruction directly from one of the best teachers in the country. My experience lies primarily with realism, but most would argue an understanding of realism vastly improves understanding of other fields of art, such as abstraction or cartoons, as it provides knowledge of what can be effectively downplayed and exaggerated to achieve a visually appealing result.
Teaching Style
Like those who taught me, my teaching style isn't harsh or cushy, just realistic. I will happily tell you where you've improved, but I will also point out where there can still be improvement. Individual lessons will be once-twice weekly, and are typically ~2 hours. During which time we will discuss a level of theory, discuss our current practice project, and move on to practicing the techniques we learned. These practice projects are not intended to be completed during these lessons. For the sake of cost-effectiveness, you are encouraged to continue working on your own, and email me with any questions you may have.
My Hobbies
When work at SCAD doesn't soak up my free time, I tend to spend it exploring the city (I moved relatively recently), listening to music, digitally painting, watching YouTube, or playing video games. In the past drawing would also be in there, but I now spend 4+ hours a day doing that for homework, so my time is typically spent in pursuit of things I've never done for 18 hours in one sitting.
Other Comments
While the lessons are naturally based on what I learned at SCAD, as that represents a large portion of and the highest quality of my formal knowledge, they are very different from the highly time-consuming classes there. The lessons I've devised are my own, and only seek to practice the principles I've learned.
