Experience Summary

I am a Associate Professor of Nursing who has had 38 years of nursing education experience in ADN, BSN, and diploma nursing programs. During that time I became skillful in web-based and live nursing education. My responsibilities involved extensive course coordination, management of adjuncts, scheduling, evaluation and advisement. I earned multiple certifications: Virtual Instructor (online Nursing Program Instruction Certification), Blackboard & Angel Certification, HESI Certification, Test Development & Item Writing Certification through NCSBN Learning. In addition I was a consultant to ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute), writing and evaluating NCLEX-RN Test questions. I developed an expertise in assisting nursing students who were challenged by reading NCLEX-RN test questions, and managing the large volumes of reading materials assigned. In addition to tutoring students within the nursing program, I also tutored graduates to pass the NCLEX-RN on the first try.

Teaching Style

I am passionate about inspiring students to find the potential within. I believe that there is a specific approach for each student that leads to success in passing nursing program courses, and passing the NCLEX on the first try. I work individually to help each student succeed. By helping the student focus on the end result the student is able to find the right strategy to reduce the stress of the process. I believe that students can learn to read NCLEX-RN test questions if given the right strategy. I also believe that test anxiety can be controlled by positive attitude focusing on achieving success. I utilize a nationally acclaimed NCLEX-RN review book as an effective tool for assisting in developing skill at reading test questions and to assist in narrowing down volumes of content into smaller bites.

My Hobbies

I love activities with my family, travel, cooking, working with rescue animals.

Other Comments

I provide online tutoring through an electronic program called Zoom. The student and I can remain in our individual homes, and see each other live while on the computer. The student can see the electronic NCLEX-RN test questions from my computer. During the time together we review how to read the question, what the question is actually asking, what strategies can be used to answer the question. The student then chooses an answer. Then we review the rationale and test taking strategy together. The process starts with a 30 minute free preliminary consultation to discuss what I have to offer. Each student receives a caring evaluation to assess strengths and weaknesses to create a personalized focus to empower the student for success. If the process matches the need of the student then we can do a One on One session. If desired the student can see testimonials from other students who have found this approach successful. I believe in self care to promote the highest level of learning, decreasing test anxiety to use your power within and be successful at every turn in your journey.
