Experience Summary
I have a total of 7 years of teaching experience. From 2010-2013, I worked as an enrichment counselor for the Pomona Unified School District. This job required me to create lesson plans and manage a class of 20 students for 3 hours a week, 5 days a week. From 2013-2015, I worked for the Chino Unified School District's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. In this job, I offered life readiness and college readiness skills and tutored various common core subjects to groups of 5 Jr. high and high school students. I networked myself through the AVID program, and began my freelance tutoring services in math and science.
I had to leave the AVID program in 2015 to pursue a very important job opportunity to work as a Music Assistant for a program called " The Music Immersion Experience" (MIE), located in San Gabriel. In this job, I assisted with classroom set up, tuning of various instruments and classroom management. I have been working at this program for a total of 1.5 years. Since the program’s inception, the team and I have worked hard to turn a low-performing school into a Merit Award winning school in 2017.
Teaching Style
I provide worksheets and online tutorials to aid the student when I am not physically present.
Other Comments
When I first began my own studies on guitar, I would enjoy teaching my non-experienced friends all the new material I learned. I realized that spreading knowledge is important for our society to prosper. Music is a universal language that can help spread knowledge between diverse cultures. I began my studies in music late in my life (after my adolescents) because music was not offered in the schools I went to. I do not wish to rob Music Education from any individual.
