For last minute help with an impending final exam or midterm, it is a charge of 4 hours. This is to allow for at least as long analyzing the professor's style and methods. This doesn't apply if I have already helped you with the class. Most people will use teams or zoom or bluejeans for actual tutoring due to covid, but I am not completely opposed to in person.

About Me

Experience Summary

You will see many ads by former or current professors trying to make a buck on the side. They are terrible tutors - they spent their whole careers having students beg them for a better grade. I have spent my whole life learning how to explain the most complex concepts to absolutely anybody. You will also see many people touting a related professional position as qualification. Many of them got their positions through nepotism and cheating to get paper qualifications (Some are my former clients) and neither have a good understanding of the material nor do they explain things well. I have run this business catering to client's needs for over a decade now. My rates are due to supply and demand - I have a busy schedule full of repeat customers and their referrals. I have many paper qualifications as well, but they honestly don't tell you much. Help with a particular program also depend highly on the Professor's quirks and methodology. Don't hire someone paper qualified just to fail the class and your tutor tells you it was your professor's fault.

Teaching Style

My teaching style relies heavily on feedback from the client. I try to have a phone call with a student to learn what they are having difficulty with but also what their professor might expect from them. Then I get a good sense of their personality to understand the best way to get ideas across to them. There are often roadblocks to learning such as personal hangups or self doubt that must be addressed. Other times it is just a matter of understanding what the person does or does not get.

Other Comments

The rates depend on the subject matter. It goes from early economics, statistics, and math classes to courses based on higher mathematics. Note I charge for 4 hours for last minute help with an exam. I do provide the service of sample assignments etc. to show how a particular assignment might be done.
