Experience Summary
Throughout high school and college, I tutored in a variety of volunteer capacity for students of all different ages. However, my main experience comes from my three years teaching kindergarten and first grade in Dallas. I have worked with many struggling readers, mainly in lower elementary, but I have also tutored struggling 3rd graders in math and reading where I work in Dallas Independent School District. As a graduate of a highly-selective, writing-intensive college (Davidson College, NC), I have experience with and skills in academic writing and reading in both English and Spanish and thus feel very comfortable working with older students in those areas, be it SAT prep, college applications or AP classes.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I like to make things active and kinesthetic, as well as connect concepts in both math and reading to the world outside of academia. I believe this helps students see the importance of classroom material and how it relates to their life outside of school.
My Hobbies
I enjoy being outside, playing sports and music.
Other Comments
I am available to tutor at any time of the day during my summer vacation from Early June to Early August.
