Experience Summary
My Approach To Teaching Guitar...
At the early age of 14, I discovered that I had a “knack” for music when I had the opportunity for a friend to show me how to play a few basic chords on his guitar (because I didn’t own one myself). Although press-
ing down on the strings hurt my fingertips, and my fingers kept slipping out of position, I fell in love with the guitar’s sound when it all finally came together... Eventually, my mother bought me my first guitar! After time continued to pass, I discovered that what was allowing me to get deeper involved with the guitar was that I was developing an “ear”or “feel” for music which simply means when I heard music, I was able to figure out how to play what I heard - the chord structure, the rhythm, the melody - all without reading music! Now, my plan is to help others discover if they have a “knack”, “ear” or “feel” for playing the guitar, just as I discovered for myself many years ago. If you do or if you don’t, it won’t take too long to find out. If you do have a "knack" for playing the guitar, then taking basic lessons from me will start you on your way to what can be a most satisfying way of self-expression. And, most important, this will set the stage for your next step of development (if you choose): LEARNING TO READ MUSIC!
