Experience Summary
(all in American Schools) 10+ years of college level physics teaching, 6+ years of part-time Math teaching 17+ years of R&D experience at AT&T Bell-Labs, 12+years of engineering teaching.
Taught physics in High School, Published papers in experimental physics, young electrical engineer award, 10+ years of tutoring to both college level and school level
Teaching Style
• Interactive teaching, if not possible from all, I try to get some real-time feedback from students by asking them to repeat of what they have understood from my lectures, and if necessary, I take little time to review/repeat the concepts until I am comfortable that majority of the students are with me
• After explaining a concept, I usually do an exercise or problem solving with the students, and in the middle of the task, sometimes I walk through the students to check, if students have taken the correct approach, and if the weak students are also coming along (within a week or two, through some pop quizzes, it is easy to identify the weak students) with the average learning speed of the class
• For holding continued interest (in the presented materials) of my students is key to learning, which I try to accomplish via connecting the course materials with real life examples. Being at Bell Labs and close to telecom industry, I have enough examples to share real life stories of the application of physics, science, mathematics, engineering with my students. I try to establish practical relevance of my courses with development of practical skills: developing analytical skill through math, problem solving skill through physics problems, circuit design skill through understanding basic electricity principles/laws, team-spirit and working with others with patience skill through laboratory exercises, technical writing skill through lab-reports, critical thinking skills through physical concepts etc.
My Hobbies
teaching (specially when students feel happy after difficult start, makes one feeling of rewarded)
Social welfare, youth counseling, family counseling, career guide
Other Comments
excellent peer teaching evaluation and assessment in Hunter College, City Tech, and SUNY Farmingdale
Diverse broad national ad international experience
Once students are comfortable with math and physics due to guidance from teacher, easy to choose career
