About Me

Experience Summary

Devon was trained at the Art Institute of Chicago in a variety of fine arts. Sculpture is his primary focus, but he also has experience in painting/drawing, design, film/video, performance, and art-tech. Since receiving his BFA in 2011, Devon has been employed consistently for his sculptural knowledge. Working for Chicago Crucible, 3-Switch Design, and West Supply LLC, amongst several freelance jobs for artists like Salvidor Dominguez, Carolyn Ottmers, and Steve Haulenbeek. Devon has also attended several global art conferences including Art Basel in Basel Switzerland, and participated in several exhibitions such as the 2014 Spring Exhibition at Stairway Studios. Experience in the academic, studio, and production environments gives Devon a uniquely holistic perspective on what it means to be an artist in the world.

Teaching Style

Devon is able to focus his tutoring on a particular craft if it is what his clients desire. For example, teaching the intricacies of sand-molding for bronze casting. For most hobbyists, and passive artists this would be the recommended path. However as he was educated, he prefers to leave the doors of possibility open. Art today is extremely interdisciplinary, and it often requires one to design their intended product, and then research materials and processes in order to execute it. If clients want to pursue a career as an artist, this approach is recommended.

My Hobbies

Most of my life is embedded in the life of the artist, but when Devon has the time he also enjoys music, movies, podcasts, parks, pool (billiards), and camping.

Other Comments

Devon would be honored to encourage your creative tendencies, guide your practice, and celebrate the results of your efforts.
