Experience Summary
• Teach Chinese language and culture program to 800 students (Grades k-5) at two elementary Schools
• Introduce students to Chinese language and culture, focusing on daily communication through four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing
• Plan variety of small and large group activities that engage students, utilize technology to enhance students’’ learning, and promote student self-confidence by displaying their work throughout the school
• Organized open house, parent-teacher conference to establish communication with parents and community
• Collaborate with Chinese teachers from three other school districts to develop curriculum and assessments for k-12 students at different language proficiency levels
• Attended district-wide and county wide PLC conferences, New Teacher Academy and seminars to improve day-to-day teaching; also attended state level foreign language conferences organized by Michigan Foreign Language Association and workshops focusing on effective language teaching strategies
