Experience Summary
I Have a Masters Degree from the University of Miami in Elementary Education. I have been teaching tutoring, and home schooling for over 10 years now. I have an absolute passion for What I do. I have great references upon request as well as a Facebook link where Satisfied parents leave their comments and reviews. I work individually with each child and develop lesson plans.Parents have a busy life during the day and I like to be of service by offering to schedule conferences with teachers so they don't have to do so unless they choose (all upon parent consent).I always keep close communication with them in order to monitor your child's progress as well as keep up to date with upcoming test and assignments.I see students for 4-6 hours a week, However, teachers see your child for approx.32 hours a week, due to this I feel constant communication is key in having a successful year. I teach FSA(previously known as the FCAT) prep programs with high success rates, most children in these programs are with my because parents received a notice on how their child may not pass the FSA due to mock test and go on to obtain 4's and 5's three months after being told they were in jeopardy of failing the year due to Mock placement. I also offer the same program for students who are not behind but parents want their children to get a "refreshment" and feel comfortable with the test formatting.
Teaching Style
I don't have a direct teaching style but rather I adjust to my students and their individual personality. I have tons of hands on activities and curriculum. If I have a student who has a love of music I will incorporate this into my teaching in order for them to learn or memorize key information. I also do a lot of hands on activities, when learning about money and change I have the students use fake money and "purchase" items from the "store" I bring in these items and put a price tag on it they are to give me correct amount and or change etc. Once they have mastered this area they get to keep the items they "purchased", this is just one example. Interactive materials is another format of teaching which children seem to focus on and love. Technology is very popular now, I like to use it to my advantage by bringing in CD'S, using computer software and Ipad apps. Children need a constant change in order to maintain engaged and more importantly, enjoy learning. Using various styles and materials rather than just pencil and paper assures that your child learns and looks forward to his sessions.
