Experience Summary
Monika Jordan graduated from the University of North Texas with international studies at the University of Sheffield, England. In Sheffield, studied Music History and Flute Performance. University of North Texas Music degree specialized in Early Childhood Music with Flute Concentration and Professional Education minor.
At age 11, Monika Jordan began flute studies with Byron Hester, former principal flutist of the Houston Symphony. In college, studied flute with Dr. A. Fairbanks (St. Thomas Univ./SHSU), Helen Baker (Royal College of Music, England), Susan Ells, Prof. Terri Sundberg & Mary Karen Clardy (Univ. of North Texas). Attended master classes with James Galway, Paula Robison, Susan Milan, Jim Walker (John Williams Orch), Brad Garner (Julliard), Ransom Wilson, and more. Early Childhood Music training instructors include Dr. Jill Trinka, Dr. Warren Henry, and Elaine Harriss. Conducting instructors were Eugene Corporon, Dennis Fisher, and Gary Sousa. Most recently studied with Aralee Dorough, principal flutist of the Houston Symphony.
Taught middle school band; high school band; elementary music; and early childhood music classes specializing in early development, special needs, baby massage, and sign language. As a licensed early childhood music educator and flute instructor, owned a private studio reaching over 120 students per week. Offered Kindermusik classes for over seven years and was selected as a member of the International Maestro Program (top 5% of studios worldwide) for multiple years. Performed in various bands, orchestras, and chamber ensembles. Many of her students have become music educators, performers, music therapists, and successful in various prestigious fields.
In addition to performing and teaching music, Monika Jordan owns a software company, Micro Concepts & Solutions, LLC. She lives in Fulshear, TX with her husband and two children.
