Experience Summary
Hi! My name is Alexandra, and I am a native Russian speaker from Moscow.
Languages are my passion. Currently I'm working at the Beverly Hills Lingual Institute, where I teach Russian language to beginner and intermediate students. I have also worked at the Slavic Languages & Literatures Department at UCLA (as a Summer Program Assistant and Tutor). I host a Russian LAnguange Students Workshop Meetup group (which you are welcome to join for free) and I have organized numerous Russian events: Poetry Nights, guided tours to Russian neighborhoods in Los Angeles, field trips to Russian concerts, etc. I have reviewed and edited Russian textbooks, I have narrated a Russian podcast for UCLA.
I am attentive and encouraging with my students, I am fun, and I believe that bringing stimulating topics for class discussions teaches vocabulary to memory the best.
I have tutored students via Skype and phone.
I’ve done private tutoring from beginner to advanced level for the past eight years, teaching all ages (5 to 75).
I would be happy to help you! Feel free to contact me.
Hope to talk to you soon!
~ Alexandra

Other Comments
I enjoy teaching beginners. It makes me happy when I see how my students improve. I have experience in teaching people of all levels and backgrounds. Although I usually stay with the course of the book's structure, my lessons can vary depending on what works for you best. Also, my class does not end in the classroom: you can always email, call or text me with your questions. I am there for you.
I put a lot of time and effort into lesson preparation; I include visual materials, books, online newspapers, movies, songs, and the like to make our time not only educational, but fun as well. I like talking about politics, cultural events and the daily life.
