Experience Summary
My bachelor degree is in Interdisciplinary Studies with English and theatre as my teaching fields. I have been in education for over 20 year in both elementary and middle school. In elementary school, I taught all the subjects in both 2nd and 4th grade. In middle school, I taught English Language Arts, Theatre and speech.
I am highly qualified to bring you to the next level with your English and writing, and with my theatre background, I make learning fun and creative.
Teaching Style
In my experience, successful students are the ones who embrace learning with a multitude of strategies to choose from. I have always been a visual learner and theatre arts performer, so I tend to gravitate toward strategies that have roots through visual learning and teamwork which allows the students to learn by creating and practicing with others. I have amassed a great deal of knowledge through continuing education and real-world teaching experience. It has allowed me to perfect the way I deliver instruction to students by utilizing a variety of teaching strategies, tailoring my approaches to deliver the best outcome for my students.
My students journal, create thinking maps, and use improve and role play in a variety of situations.
Most importantly, I encourage dialogue among students and teacher allowing students to teach and learn from each other. The later allows the students to practice now what they will be expected to do when they enter the workforce.
My Hobbies
When I am not in the classroom teaching, I can be found outside in the garden among numerous flowering plants and vegetables, spending time with my dogs, designing jewelry, sewing clothes and crafts, painting, wood refinishing, and of course there is Netflix!
