Other Comments
Since 2007 I have developed and implemented practical and effective educational strategies. These strategies have lead to a consistent increase in “intentional” parental involvement, parent-teacher-student rapport, an improvement in student attitude toward school, and an increase in student resilience. Most importantly the increase in academic achievement was noted at both secondary and post secondary levels.
Besides being certified to teach French at the secondary level (P-12), my Education Specialist Certificate in Foreign Language Education (French) provides me with the necessary credentials to also teach French at the post secondary level. Additional coursework and training in the field of education, particularly in Curriculum and Instruction, has sharpened my interest in the Culturally Responsive Teaching concept. My personal journey, educational and professional background has inspired me to be a role model to others, especially those from diverse backgrounds. As a community organizer since 2010, I have recruited and trained mentors in the U.S and abroad. Professional activities I have been involved in include mentoring, providing academic and career advice to international students, and volunteering my services and expertise to projects that promote and encourage self-identity, diversity and inclusion.
A proponent of Culturally Responsive Teaching, I strongly believe that it is a privilege to be a teacher; teaching provides a unique platform to influence others. Personally and professionally, I strive to help others realize their full potential.
