Experience Summary
As an English major at Haverford College, I was given the opportunity and training to turn my passion for reading and writing into a highly developed skill. The English Department at Haverford prides itself on its rigorous program, and I have had thorough exposure to many of the most important literary works in English written by both British and American authors. However, most important to my job as a tutor, I have worked extensively in workshops designed to teach us both to analyze and critique the work of our peers, and also to revise both the content and presentation of our own writing. I strongly believe in the importance of grasping not only the concepts contained in a given text, but also of taking ownership over the reading experience. I hope to impart some of the skills and knowledge I have gained studying literature to students. I believe that my experience gives me both the practical ability and the emotional investment necessary to encourage students to see reading and writing as a tool for learning and enjoyment.
