Experience Summary
I have four years of teaching experience for both private and public programs as well as in traditional and online settings. I have experience teaching Secondary English/Language Arts, specifically at the middle school level. I have inclusion and special education classroom experience working with students with special needs, including ADD, ADHD, Autism, and Asperger's Syndrome. My experience is mainly in urban settings and, as such, I have developed and taught lesson for struggling readers and underperforming students, even with limited resources.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one that fosters a love for reading and I encourage my students to develop reading comprehension skills that will make reading not only more fluid but also more enjoyable. I use a variety of "text to" connections that will engender students to make personal and real-world connections to their reading. I emphasize organization and independent learning that will help students develop not only long-lasting literacy skills but also life skills.
My Hobbies
I devote much of my time to volunteer work that I do for the international community. In addition, I love to read, sing, and visit museums, theater, and various cultural events that take place around the city.
