Experience Summary
I have been an educator for almost 20 years. I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher and immediately fell in love with teaching children with special needs. Desiring to continue to teach, I finished a Master's degree which gave me the endorsements to teach K-12 children with special needs. Since then, I have taught reading and mathematics to both children with special needs and regular education children at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. As I gained a greater thirst to do more to help children, outside of teaching in the public school setting, I bagan tutoring. Between teacing within the public school and tutoring outside of the public school setting, I gained a great deal of experience when it comes to identifying strategies that cause children to learn and retain what they have learned. After all was said and done, I finally capped my educational aspirations off with finishing a doctorate degree in leadership in educational administration.
Over the past 10 years, tutoring has been my major contribution to educating today's youth (and adults). I have found that tutoring is the one means of providing education that allows learners to get that second dose of what they have learned in a mainstream educational setting--in essence, tutoring is a wonderful way to reinforce and strengthen previously taught educational skills and concepts. In short, tutoring is a strategical endeavor that requires knowing the learner's style of learning (i.e., visual, auditory, hands-on, etc.). Over the years, I have honed my ability to tap into a learner's specific style of learning. My experience has caused non-readers to become readers and individuals intimidated by mathematics to become confident masters of the art of learning and testing. If you are looking for someone who can really help you or your child, I have the education, experience, tools, resources, and more importantly, the anointing to bring about a change in you or your learner's academic experience--I look forward to working with you.
