Experience Summary
I have a plethora of experience teaching in the elementary, middle, and high schools. I developed tutoring programs where I taught students at all levels in test taking skills and in addition, I trained adults to teach students using various teaching strategies. My dissertation focused on running effective tutorial programs. Also, I have served as a Research Educational Specialist to evaluate effective after school tutorial programs. Therefore, I know first hand best practices to employ to help students and teachers succeed, thus creating a win-win outcome.
Teaching Style
I believe in a student-centered environment whereby I act a facilitator who guides and directs students by asking questions, exploring options, suggesting alternatives, and encouraging students to develop criteria to make informed choices. My overall goal for students is to develop in students the capacity for independent action, initiative, and responsibility.
