An ESL training film was made about my teaching style in 2003 by the ALRC, Adult Language Resource Center in Arlington Heights,IL. In 2005, I patented a revolutionary system for teaching keyboarding / typing to both adults and adolescents. Concomitantly, 12 years of preparing students for the TOEFL examination.
20 years of experience teaching high school English---Grammar and Compostion; Literature and Writing---including AP classes and SAT-prep mini-courses. Included in this are stints as debate coach, drama teacher, poetry contest organizer, and independent-study director. Have also taught AP American History / Civics.
Teaching Style
Simply put: My teaching style is student-centered, and so is my tutoring style. I start where the student is now, and go from there, working from strengths and shoring up weaknesses. Most importantly, I develop a plan of "action," by the end of the very first session, so I waste neither the time of the student nor the money of the parent/payor.
Other Comments
You'll find me a pleasant, friendly, yet businesslike and results-oriented tutor-teacher.
