Experience Summary
I have BS and MS degrees metallurgical/materials engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, with 30-plus years experience in the metals industry. My industrial experience spans from primary ferrous and nonferrous metal production to aerospace manufacturing, working in various management capacities ranging from plant metallurgist/quality control to general/sales manager. Industrial background includes foundry/casting, specialty steel production, forging, commercial heat treating, and original equipment manufacturing.
Teaching Style
I try to fully understand and assess the student’s needs to better resolve issues surrounding the subject matter. I encourage and stimulate student participation through real life experiences, examples, and applications to facilitate the students understanding of the subject matter. I promote dialogue around the subject matter to facilitate the student’s own resolve, constantly stressing the relevance of the subject matter through real world examples to illustrate the practical application of the information and skills learned in class.
