Experience Summary
I am an Assistant Professor at the Defense Language Institute. I have been teaching Chinese to US military personnel for more than three years. Most of the students did not have any prior knowledge of Chinese before they join the class. However, 64 weeks later, by the time they graduate, they can talk about current issues, read authentic news articles, and understand the culture and customs of China.
Due to the requirement of my job, I am familiar with both traditional and simplified Chinese characters and different word usage in the region. I am also exposed to a great variety of subject matters, including politics, environment, economic, society, culture, etc.
I have received extraordinary feedback from my students. Comments include, energetic, always keeps the class fun, teaches real life Chinese, etc.
