Experience Summary
I am a graduate student from Northern Illinois University where I have earned a BS in elementary education, which enabled me to gain an understanding of teaching children as a whole as well as in small groups. I have had experience student teaching, working one-on-one with students, and as a high school helper. These experiences have taught me how to teach children and help them understand and grasp numerous concepts by using various teaching styles and activities to meet the needs of individual students.
Teaching Style
My background in teaching kindergarten and first grade include hands-on activities to keep their natural curiosity alive and develop new curiosity. The number one thing that I love about teaching is seeing the progression of abilities in my students. Especially at such a young age, it is amazing to see my students use their higher level thinking. Knowing that my students’ confidence levels grow with every accomplishment in their abilities gives me great joy as a teacher. I have worked with students who have a range of abilities, so I feel I have been lucky to see the different levels of students. This has allowed me to develop lessons and activities that can challenge the gifted students and still meet the needs of all students.
