Experience Summary
I have taught ESL in China for more than 4 years. Through this experience I have learned that education is mind opening. This is a wonderful thing to cultivate in students and witness the outcome. The ability to form an opinion based on knowlege of the subject, and put it forward, either verbally or in writing, is the essence of education in my opinion. Through my experience in teaching Listening, Speaking and Academic Writing as a second language, I know that L1 students can grasp and use the information and ideas they are taught to benefit themselves and society.
Teaching Style
I enjoy seeing students make progress, not only in academics, but also in learning life lessons from their study. I believe this is the real vocation of a teacher. Any metods can be used to teach such as TV documentaries, radio, activities and even movies with specific lessons about life. Information is only as good as what it is used for. Therefore, I always make sure the student has formed an opinion about how the material can be used by him/her.
