Experience Summary
I have recently completed my student teaching experience as part of the masters and certification program at Roosevelt University. I entered the program already having a BS in Business Management from Miami University (OH). In July, I will receive my high school type 09 certificate to teach high school business, marketing, and computer education. I have experience volunteering as a tutor for students in elementary schools. I was a reading tutor for first graders when I was an undergrad at Miami University. For three years, I was a tutor at the Cabrini Green Tutoring Program, and worked with fourth - sixth grade students. I enjoyed my experience, and feel as though it has prepared me for my teaching career.
Teaching Style
Most importantly, I love working with kids of all ages. Teaching is a passion of mine, which is why I made my recent career change. Tutors need to make sure to present content by using a variety of instructional techniques so that they keep the attention and interest of the student. Finally, a successful tutor is one who takes the time to assess the student's skills and abilities. Not every student is wired to learn in a certain way. Tutors have the responsibility to understand the best way for each student to learn.
