Experience Summary
I have worked on curriculum revisions materials selection committees. I am currently working on creating digital technology for county use under the E2T2 Math Grant with a team of other Mathematics Educators. I have always had an interest in teaching, and received certification for 6-12 mathematics. I love being employed as a full time teacher, but my heart lies in tutoring. Once families became comfortable with me in the Atlanta area, I started private in-home tutoring and began getting requests to tutor in many other subjects as well. I have an extensive mathematics and test prep background and the ability to share this in an effective way with students and I have personal and professional experience working with students of all ages.
Teaching Style
My approach to tutoring is that all students want to learn, some just need more of a push that others. It is my job to make the subject more relevant, interesting and understandable for them. I assume everyone is capable of learning the material and I am very skilled at differentiating my instruction to suit the needs of all levels of learners. I believe parents have a hard enough job, and it is sometimes best for someone else to tackle school subjects where the students are not thriving. Students often benefit from a fresh perspective and if their self-esteem is at all suffering from difficulties at school, having a new person involved in their lives can help them feel more confident again.
