Experience Summary
I have been teaching in Smyrna, GA for 8 years, and have experienced nearly every elementary grade level. I taught Kindergarten, First, and Fourth Grade each for one year, Second Grade for three years, and Fifth Grade for two years. While working at Belmont Hills I worked with many second language learners from Mexico, Haiti, and Pakistan and saw the need to be ESOL certified. I have tutored during Cobb County's summer school program for five years and privately since I began teaching. I am currently in school to receive my Specialist Degree for Curriculum and Instruction.
Teaching Style
I believe that children learn best by creating their knowledge. I run my classroom under a constructivist theory, where children work to develop deep understanding of the content. I teach my students through hands on lessons that translate to real world experiences that helps to make their learning more concrete. It is important to meet each student at their level and scaffold their learning. While I believe that all students can learn, it is important to individualize education to help each student be successful.
