Experience Summary
Starting in 1996, I taught private art lessons in painting and drawing. During my associates degree, I began teaching at the park district. For three years, I taught drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture to children pre-kindergarden to adult. I also had two advanced students, who studied beginning mural painting, anatomy and book binding. My Bachelors at Governors State University focused on advanced painting and sculpture techniques. I transfered to Columbia College Chicago to complete my degree. Since graduation, I have worked with a private students on projects in painting and sculpture.
Teaching Style
My focus is on presenting the material in an age appropriate fashion. Each student's needs and skills will vary.Projects are designed to meet these needs, expand existing skills and introduce new skills and media. My art practice is varied and utilizes a wide range of media. I encourage an atmosphere of inspired experimentation and focused technical skill development. I delight in giving young artists the tools to learn, play, and create art. I utilize national standards for age and skill level in developing my projects and classes. Educating is a joy that allows me to share my knowledge and skills with my students.
