Experience Summary
I worked in accounting and finance for over 20 years in such positions as Cost Accounting Supervisor, Finance Manager, Assistant Controller, Operations Finance Liaison, and Accounting Analyst for such high-tech companies as Honeywell (Synertek) and service organizations as Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
In 2000, I decided to return to SJSU to earn my teaching credential and taught for the Diocese of San Jose for eight years.
My husband and I have been married for 38 years and we have two sons. I am an avid reader and am well-informed on a variety of subjects. My MFA in Creative Writing is challenging and fun. I am a freelance writer. We visit the Sierra often as a family to enjoy the outdoors.
Teaching Style
My style is a creative one with results.I have watched students start coming to school with confidence,prepared to meet teacher expectations instead of arriving fearful,knowing they didn't understand what to do,didn't have the materials to do it,or forgot or lost it.Demystification,respect,and rigor are what I offer my students.Responsibility,respect,and rigor are what I expect.I teach organization and empowerment techniques that give tutoring long-lasting effects, not just short-term results like a passing grade on next week's test. As a businesswoman for over 20 years, I believe in prudent use of resources and measurable results. My students and I will have a plan and will assess and course correct repeatedly on the path to success.
