Experience Summary
As a volunteer for St. Joseph's Home for Boys and Upward Bound, I have gained experience working with elementry middle and high school students on a personal level. I feel that my ability to reach the minds of youth is great because I speak to them not at them. I encourage them as well to question my ability as a teacher and leader while exhibiting the highestly levels of respect and understanding for others thought patterns. Although, my degree is in Construction Management and Civil Engineering I have a diverse background in teaching: physics, history, finance, algebra, technical writting, and 1 of my favorites public speaking.
Teaching Style
As a mentor and tutor I have a very hands on style of teaching. I challenge my students with the Upward Bound Program to think outside the norms of their traditional boundaries. I encourage a diverse mind frame and point of view for various subject. Most of all I want my students to see their studies in everyday life and understand how each subject applies on a person level. My teaching style as well is always open and my doors and time is always devoted to those I teach so that their understanding of a subject is not limited to only the work load I present, but questions they present to me as a teacher.
