Experience Summary
As an undergraduate I worked for the university learning center and the educational opportunity program. I tutored students in various subjects including: introductory physics, calculus 1, calculus 2, calculus 3, and freshman level English. I was also a tutor for Newark public schools. Post graduation I have performed some private mathematics tutoring for high school students that attend my place of worship. My other work experience includes patent examination of medical devices, prosthetics, implants, mechanical engineering devices.
Teaching Style
From the beginning we must let the students know what expectations we have so that they can prepare themselves for the upcoming tasks at hand. I also believe that you must have some flexibility in teaching in understanding that some topics may take longer to cover than initially expected.
I have also found from my experience that when teaching or tutoring it is best to look at the student's past work and grades to see where there are problem areas. I am patient and like to review to make sure the foundation is strong in the subject area we are working on before we begin more advanced topics.
