Experience Summary
During my academic career, I earned two BS degrees, one in Math and one in Economics. I earned an MS in Actuarial Science and an MS in Economics. I tutored Math, including Calculus, while an undergraduate. Following my academic career, I worked as a pension actuary for about 25 years. More recently, I have been a Catechist teaching 6th graders the Old Testament at my Church. I love teaching and helping kids and adults. My academic areas of expertise are Math (through Calculus) and Economics but I have a broad background and can also help students understand the real-world context of most of their academic studies.
Teaching Style
Students learn best when they enjoy what they are doing and are active participants in their own education. I try to establish a relationship of mutual respect and trust so I can understand the student and tailor the lesson to the student's needs. Lessons should be challenging but fun.
