Experience Summary
As an undergraduate, I became very passionate about the sciences and graduated with a BA in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology and Biology. During my collegiate years, I Peer Tutored for General and Organic Chemistry laboratories and held review sessions for these courses. During my latter two years, I also tutored at the Writing Center, acting as Lead Tutor during my senior year. I worked with students at all stages of the writing process and in every academic discipline to strengthen their written skills. I also acted as an assistant teacher for a Language Skills Development course, leading a critical thinking module for small groups of college students.
Teaching Style
All students possess the ability to achieve academic success; however, many are unable to identify a streamlined path. I have worked with a wide range of students and have learned from each one a new teaching/learning style. One of the most important roles of an educator is to help the student identify goals and determine the most effective way to reach them. Furthermore, I believe that the role of a tutor is not to simply teach content; each session should make the student that much more independent as they learn the individualized strategies and techniques to reach academic success.
